Summit High School Spartan Band

Went over Friday night schedule:

~ Kids stay after school, eat around 4:30pm, dress & play at halftime. Should be done around 10-10:30pm, when game is over and band room is straightened & cleaned up.

~ ‘Uniform’ for this Friday is Navy uniform shirt and choice of jeans, denim or khaki shorts (dress code length). Shirts must be tucked in and a belt. Tennis shoes or sneakers are ok.

Still have volunteer slots available for Friday night. Should receive communication from Leads if you have volunteered as to where to meet, time, etc.

~Food crew to arrive at 4:15

~Pit crew to meet by picnic table before the start of the game

Mini Camp on Saturday 8/18 8am-5pm

Financials

~ May and June payments were good – Thank You!!  Those payments allow us to be ready for football season, cover band camp staffing expenses, etc

~August 1st and September 1st payments cover competition expenses (travel, food, competition entry, etc)

~If you have money in your Miscellaneous ledger (money from fundraising, Scrips, FlipGive or Flag Subscriptions), please email Tami Bell giving her permission to move the money to your fixed payment – we will not do that without your permission.

Reminder of Volunteer Needs

~All events are in Charms to sign up for volunteer slots (Home games, Away games & Contest dates) – some times are subject to change for competition dates

~We will have ‘lead’ positions for volunteers as a point person for each event to give direction for that day.

~Next Flag install day is Labor Day – September 3rd. We currently still need 18 drivers and 66 kids to volunteer to make the routes manageable and go quickly.  August 27th is the deadline for renewals and/or new subscriptions to be turned in to have a flag included in the Labor Day install.

Fundraising

~ Sponsorship Trifolds are available for local businesses – most effective if we can get the kids involved asking the local businesses

~ Signs are available for sponsorships over $100/window decal is available for those businesses who can’t have a sign

~ Spirit Nights

~ 8/27 Grecian Pizza 4-9pm (bakery, take out, dine in)

~ September – Culvers (will need students to volunteer to help serve/bus tables)

~ November – Boombozz

Spartan Your Engines on September 9th

Reminders – kids need to be well rested, hydrated & eat throughout practice days to minimize ‘downtime’

November 12 – Veterans Concert, all fine arts departments included, more information to follow
