November 2022 Flag Install Date Change Notice

Dear Supporters,

First of all, we want to extend a huge thank you for your continued support of the American Flag Service program offered by the Summit High School Marching Spartans! We view this program as not only a fundraiser to help our kids express their musical talents on the field, but it also serves as a community service project that teaches our kids to respect our veterans, our nation, and our flag. We recently completed our Labor Day install by installing over 500 flags!

Your continued support through the years has helped position our Summit High School band program as a highly regarded band program throughout the area and the state. This year, our Marching Spartans have the opportunity to compete in the Bands of America Grand National Championships in Indianapolis, Indiana, November 10 – 12, 2022. This competition is recognized as the premier marching band event in the nation. It is a tremendous honor to be a part of this competition and a great opportunity to share our talents on a national stage. Information on the competition can be found here if you want to follow along this ride with us.

We need to ask for your assistance this November with extending your flexibility due to our participation in this national championship. We have been selected to perform in Indianapolis the evening of Veterans Day, November 11, 2022. Our November flag install usually takes place on Veterans Day. We hold this date very near and dear in respect to our Veterans, both currently serving and retired. We usually hold a community concert honoring our Veterans each year as well.

As a result of this scheduling conflict, we have come up with an alternate plan for the Veterans Day flag install this year. We have decided to display the flags to honor our Veterans and Country on Election Day, Tuesday, November 8, 2022, as a substitute date. Though we are disappointed about not being able to fulfill the install on Veterans Day this year, we greatly appreciate your understanding as we support our kids in this most important opportunity of a lifetime to showcase their talents and represent Spring Hill and Summit High School.

This program being where it is today and our ability to embark on this opportunity is truly a result of your support and we cannot thank you enough for your continued help.

Thank you,

Summit High School Band Club
